Boracay Community Market Saturdays @ 10 am to 2 pm. Plazoleta on White Beach (Station 2). Here is where you can shop for home-baked pastries, muffins, chocolates, and organic vegetables. Paintings and sculptures by Boracay artists also are on display.

Boracay Book Club Everyday. Dave's Straw Hat (Station 3). So, you have a new favorite and you want to share it with fellow book lovers? Visit Dave's Straw Hat in Station 3, and share or swap books with others.

Kasbah Sunset Sessions Saturdays before sunset, Kasbah Boracay. White Beach (Station 1). Good food. Great Music. Nice Location. Beautiful Sunset.

Cork! A Wine Room Monday to Saturday, 1:00 PM to late; and Sunday 7:00 PM to late. Cork! has an excellent selection of imported wines. The perfect place to hang out if you are a wine connoisseur. They also serve simple foods and desserts at a reasonable price, yet in a comfortable, elegant atmosphere.

Baling-Hai Beach Everyday. A quiet little cove just north of Diniwid Beach, where you can enjoy swimming, snorkeling and dining (picnik style) in a relaxed, peaceful environment.

Puka Beach Everyday. A quiet stretch of white sand along the northern tip of the island, Puka Beach is an image of what most people expect on a tropical island: coconut trees, white sand, crystal clear waters.. and empty.

General Info

Boracay is a tropical island in the Philippines, with powdery white sand and crystal-clear blue waters. Located approximately 315 km south of Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of the Panay Island in the Western Visayas, the island comprises the barangays of Manoc-Manoc, Balabag, and Yapak.

The island was originally home to the Ati tribe. Formerly undiscovered and a well-guarded secret, it wasn't until the 1970s that tourism began to develop in Boracay, and finally became well known in the 1980s. Today, Boracay Island is the most popular beach destination in the Philippines, and is among the 10 best tropical beaches in the world.

Getting Here

Manila (or Cebu) to Caticlan

If you want to travel by plane, the ideal option is to book a flight from the Manila domestic airport and get a flight to either Caticlan or go through Kalibo. Either way, it should take you about an hour to reach your destination. Kalibo Airport is a larger airport, but about 90 minutes from Boracay. You can take an air-conditioned van to Caticlan for 200 PHP, or by Jeepney for 100 PHP.

The Strong Republic Nautical Highway is the most popular option for those who want to travel by land. It is an integrated set of highway segments and vehicular ferry routes. Locally known as RORO, the trip from Manila will take 12-16 hours with stopovers and dependent on sea conditions. Best possible rate for an air-conditioned bus is 1,500 PHP.

Caticlan to Boracay

Pump boats ferry between the Caticlan mainland's Jetty Port and Boracay Island from 5:00 in the morning to 9:00 in the evening. The pump boat fare is 25 PhP, however non-residents also pay a 50 PHP environmental fee, and a 50 PHP Terminal fee. You can get these tickets outside the Jetty Port before you enter. The trip from mainland to the island is 20 minutes. (Please be generous enough to tip the porters whose only livelihood is to carry your luggage.)

Boracay Port to Hotel

You can either take a tricycle or a multicab to your hotel. Tricycle costs 100 PHP, and 250 PHP for the Multicab. Depending on the season, you will be coming either Tambisaan Port or Cagban Port. But the distance from either to White Beach is 15 minutes.

Hotels and Resorts

Boracay is divided into 5 stations and accommodation types are scattered all over these locations -- ranging from luxurious hotel types to budget, cottage rooms. 

Station 1 is the north-western part of Boracay's famous white beach. This is where the upscale hotels are located, but you'll be surprised to know that there are inexpensive resorts here as well. Click here for a list of accommodations in Station 1. 

Station 2 is the island's center of action and has the very reasonably priced resorts -- ideal for groups and families. But some of the higher-end hotels can be found here too. This area is usually preferred by those who wanted to have an action packed vacation. The most popular landmark of this station is D'Mall. Click here for a list of accommodations in Station 2.

Station 3 is best known for its cheap accommodations. You can find resorts here with rates as low as Php600 a night. This is probably one of the reasons why visitors prefer to stay in this area -- they are able to make their pesos go a long way. Imagine enjoying the same beautiful white beach as much as the person next to you, and at a much affordable price. Click here for a list of accommodations in Station 3.

Off-White Beach. There are a variety of smaller beaches around the island where you can usually find the high-end resorts and luxurious private villas. Bulabog Beach is dubbed as the "best kiteboarding beach in Asia". It is a 2.5 km beach located at the east side of the island, protected by coral reefs, and is home to the kiteboarding and windsurfing enthusiasts. It is like the opposite of white beach - quieter, laid back, relaxed. There are however some resorts and villas here, and lately, it became the favorite site of real estate developments.
